No. You might be asked to provide your ICBC claim number information if not already provided. If you’re seeking counselling 3 months after the date of your car accident, you might be required to provide a doctor’s referral.
Anyone injured in a motor vehicle accident in British Columbia, or any B.C. resident injured in a motor vehicle accident in North America is entitled to Part 7 benefits either from ICBC or from another insurer involved in the accident. Regulation 96 sets out the various situations where no Part 7 coverage is provided.

No shows and last minute cancellations within 24 hours will be billed 50% of the allotted treatment. The cancellation is not billable towards your insurance benefits.
The first session is a time to get to know your therapist, and determine ‘goodness of fit’. If for any reason you aren’t comfortable in working with him or her, you have the option to switch to another therapist. Generally, during the first counselling session the therapist will provided an assessment and together with the client determine a suitable treatment plan.
If your accident was within the last 3 months, you’re pre-authorized for counselling. If 3 months have passed then a doctor’s note is required.
